The Government guidelines have said Community Centres can open once more from 4th July 2020.
With this in mind, the management committee for the community centre held a special meeting on 22nd June to discuss the way forward. We were all very anti-social and socially distanced around the hall.
Due to the latest guidelines, the management committee are following advice from ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) to enable us to open our doors once again from Monday 6th July. Restaurants, some theatres such as Storyhouse, hairdressers etc will be able to open again from this date, but social distancing must be observed. We are confident that we can meet the necessary criteria for some, if not all, of our regular activities to have a chance of returning to the centre. Our regular users have been sent a questionnaire as it important for us to gauge their intentions. To view the questionnaire regarding re-opening OPEN HERE
To ensure the health and safety of everyone, we need to check a number of issues. As we have Hallmark III accreditation, many practices take place as a matter of course. Our caretaker has proved to be a valuable asset and has been cleaning the centre even when not in use and will continue to do so once the centre opens again.
Chris thoroughly cleans all surfaces and will put chairs out where and when necessary. Chairs will be used on a rota system enabling used ones to be cleaned and left for at least 72 hours. We have designated an isolation area should the need arise. Social distancing will of course need to be observed with limits regarding number of persons in certain areas: Kitchen 2, Foyer 4, ER store 1, Hall store 1, Shed 2 and toilets will be 1 unless accompanying a small child from the same household. We must trust to users common sense in this as some areas are rather ‘tight’. Sanitiser will be available and screens used where necessary, Where possible there will be a separate entrance and exit e.g. ER and the Hall
A stocktake and purchase of necessary supplies will be undertaken this week. This will include, disposable aprons, gloves, sanitiser, tissue/blue paper towel, larger bins and liners, signage etc.
Due to the complexities regarding non-transmission of COVID-19, users will be required to sign a supplementary ‘special conditions of hire’ document, in accordance with the centre’s risk assessment, a copy of which will be received by the hirer.

Reels on Wheels, the charity that produces films for us has managed to survive lockdown but, as yet, we do not know when films are likely to return to Tarvin. We have to consider the safety of all. Hopefully around September we will find a way to make this popular event a regular feature once again.
